Believe, Build, Become

When The AllBright founders Debbie Wosskow and Anna Jones met at a party in 2015, talk quickly turned to their careers and they discovered a mutual frustration at the lack of women in top leadership roles and a personal connection in their shared passion to change things.

For all the talk of progress in the workplace, Anna and Debbie were united in their frustrations that the world of business is still so heavily skewed in favour of men. In Fortune 500 companies, women make up only 22% of board members and 4.8% of CEOs; in the UK there are now only six female CEOs of FTSE 100 companies, and UK women hold only 12% of jobs paying £150,000 or more. Galvanised by a desire to change these depressing statistics and committed to creating better opportunities for their daughters, Anna and Debbie knew that the rules needed to be re-written by women for women.

So, The AllBright was born on International Women’s Day 2018 with a mission statement to support women at all stages of their careers, with a particular focus on skills, start-ups and space. The sisterhood at the heart of The AllBright is more than a basic support framework – it is your own group of advisors, women you can ask for advice with a tough business decision or who share their networks with mutual encouragement to achieve success. The sisterhood is the backbone of the AllBright Academy and its ethos is woven throughout this book.

We still need more women leaders – progress is being made, but we have a long way to go. And that’s why Believe, Build, Become is so important.’ Arianna Huffington, Founder & CEO, Thrive Global
